Play this video to your class to introduce the week! Teaching resources are further down this page.

Summary: Kaitiakitanga - a core concept in Te Ao Māori and something that we think should be incorporated into everyday life. We’ll explore this concept further, and how it’s relevant to our environment and to Aotearoa. In our ambition to become kaitiaki for our rohe and whenua, we need to remember that natural kaitiaki also exist - things like wetlands, trees and taniwhā. We must be sure to respect these in a sustainable way, rather than to get distracted by short-term benefits that can lead to their degradation.

Core objective:
Learn about Kaitiakitanga and the how to incorporate it into our lives.

Prizes for this week:

  • Top 5x classes to receive ONE MONTH’S SUPPLY (15 jars) of Pic’s Peanut Butter - say whaaaat?? Mmm mMMmmm (most delicious peanut butter in the world?)
