Summary: Everyone gets excited about Birds of Prey, and we’re sure that your class will too when they learn all about our ferocious kārearea or crooning ruru, not to mention the legend of the Haast Eagle! Many of our native Birds of Prey are endangered but some are finding unlikely refuge in our exotic plantation pine forests. This week will focus on this unique relationship, why our birds of prey are significant to Aotearoa, and what we can do to help them. Enjoy!

Core objective:
Learn what kārearea are and how pine plantations are supporting their recovery.
